Training!

Oy vey.
That is what I say to myself mid run these days.

I think I have said it before but I am not a natural born runner that looks like a giselle out there running for hours. I started running in college for an early morning class. My mom didn't think I would make it to each class so she bribed me with a Coach purse if I could pass the class. I think the exam was running a mile. Oh to just run a mile now and call that a workout.
Coach purse, I know you are rolling your eyes at the bribery used on a college student or the fact that a Coach purse was a huge deal to me, either way it was circa 2004 and I was a happy sorority girl when I got that purse.

Not the point! I started running a little more in college with friends and then more often when I was preparing for my wedding. The wonderful thing about running for me is that it makes me a nice, sane, happy, somewhat normal human being.
My life changed when I realized that running was a healthy outlet for me.
I now feel so blessed that I have some wonderful women in my life that share a love for running.

Right now I am training with a sweet friend for the Nashville Rock N Roll half marathon.
The furthest race I have been in so far is a 10k. It is a bit scary to think that those 6.2 miles were not even half of my upcoming race.

I am a treadmill runner. I love to watch my Felicity episodes on my ipad and run with my security system on and not have anyone see me! Well, that has changed with my new training schedule.

Now I meet my sweet friend every Sunday morning and we run outside. Today we did 7 miles and it was challenging at times but I had more energy today than I have in a long time.

I am having some knee issues and am going to see an orthopedic this week to make sure I take care of it and can still run the half and keep my knee safe!

I have recently made some exercise related purchases that make my run a little more fun and pretty too!

These are my new running shoes. They are so bright and cheerful. I looooove them. So worth the splurge. I am a little sad that I am training outside because I don't want any dirt on them!

I took a half day at work the other day and went shopping with my mom.
We ended up at Lululemon and I was so happy.
Don't get me wrong- the pieces are SO pricey but I wanted a little pick me up to keep me motivated during my long runs.

The first thing I picked up was this long sleeved and super warm top.
It is reversible and can be a great top layer.

Pictures are from lululemon.
1. I don't pose and want my pictures on here modeling
2. The models on the website have WAY better abs.

This is the other shirt I picked up.
It is so pink. This fabric is amazing, it doesn't absorb odor and it has the cutest lace design on it.

How cute is the lace detail on this??

My goal is to pick up one lululemon piece a month to try and build up a good collection of running/yoga clothes.

The last thing is something I have been admiring for a loooooong time.
It just so happens to be on my Valentine's Day wish list, hint hint babe.....

When I saw that this watch came in pink I was sold.
It is a big investment but I think knowing how far I am running while I am training is so important.
I am not running this race to break any time records, my goal is to run the entire thing and walk away instead of being taken away on a stretcher. Fingers crossed.
