Vacation Part 2

Since this is an annual beach trip I always save up all my favorite snacks and not so healthy treats for my time at the beach. I'd like to think that the sun burns all of your calories at the beach.....

Blake and I share a love for food.  We did a lot of cooking at home and going out. We had to hit up all the best spots in Palm Beach and indulge....

We drove down to Palm Beach and flew back home.
The best part of our 10 hour drive down was finding this gem:

FAZOLI'S!!!
I realize that some of you may be saying "ew, nasty, gross" right now but I am not ashamed.
You see....when we were kids my family went to Fazoli's every Sunday after church for years. Those breadsticks are still talked about in my family.  They closed them all down around us in Georiga so when made a point to stop at the one in Valdosta.

It was a great way to start our vacation!

Plus, look how amazing their drink machine is- you push a button and choose your drink.  It was all new to me.

We also got to try the Dorito taco for the first time.

We had a lovely breakfast at home one day. Everything is better on vacation.

Afternoon cocktails- raspberry lemonade, basil, lemon vodka, muddled strawberries.

Pad Thai

Cheese dip at Rocco's Tacos.

One of my favorite things to eat at the beach, pizza lunchables.
I know....some of you may find that repulsive. It takes me back to being a little kid again.

Beach Blake

We ate at a place called Italy one night and had fresh pasta.

Mmmm, crash potatoes from the Pioneer Woman.

Roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and apple, roasted cauliflower, and crash hot potatoes.

Butternut squash pasta with bacon, onions, and pine nuts.

This dessert was a new recipe for us and it has to be one of my favorites.
Puff pasty with a piece of brie cheese.

Add fresh cherries, apple, butter, brown sugar, and some cinnamon.

Wrap them up and seal the edges with some egg wash.

Make a glaze with powdered sugar and milk to put on after they bake.

Another night we made this new appetizer.
Puff pasty again...

Asparagus

White cheddar cheese

Pear and pepper

Roll them up and add egg wash.

Bake until golden brown.
Really good!

Grilled corn, asparagus, basil, and fresh mozzarella.

Old school Velveta mac & cheese and some grilled pineapple.

Cheesecake Factory white chocolate blueberry cheesecake.

We continued with our tradition of making pizzas!

Fresh fruit

One pizza had blue cheese, prosciutto, apples, and arugula.
The other one had some of our left over corn and asparagus salad, butternut squash, mozzarella, and pine nuts.

We took our usual trip to the little French Bakery in town and picked up some treats....

We also baked some amazing chocolate chip cookies.

Vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches and whipped cream.

We spent many, many hours laying at the pool reading and laughing.

See you next year Palm Beach!
