My favorite things

I really enjoy things. It has taken me a bit to realize what I need and what I want. It is easy to get caught up in having the latest designer shoes and bags and driving a nice car.  I am so thankful that I have people around me that remind me of the really important things in life.  Today I am most thankful for the relationships I have made in the past couple of years.  I love being surrounded by encouraging and wise woman at work, having a best friend that will always make me laugh, parents that are supportive, and a very sweet husband.

The idea of having a new outfit for work is exciting to me.
When I started running I wanted a matching outfit for each time I got on the treadmill.
When I cook/bake I always want to try something new and of course I don't have the ingredients on hand.
I want my dog to have an outfit for each holiday.
Plus I can't stop decorating for every holiday all over my house.
There are some things I still need to work on....I need to learn to say "no" and do make things simple.
My love language is obviously gifts.  With Christmas around the corner I have realized how much I love to put together the perfect gift for each person.

I caught myself in the teacher work room at school the other day talking about how I could not live without a certain coffee maker.  There is always a line in the work room for coffee, there is something so nice about talking to people over a cup of coffee, until you realize your class is waiting outside the door for you...ooops.

Anyway it got me thinking about my favorite things- these are a few things that I have been enjoying lately!

As a teacher I already wash my hands a zillion times a day but this honeysuckle scent could not get any better.

I buy the sugar free bottle.  I make vanilla lattes on the weekends at home and they are wonderful.

My MIL sent Andy and I one of these months ago and it is probably the most used tool in my kitchen. It is so fast and easy!  The lattes taste just like Starbucks, I promise.

Who doesn't love rose gold?

It took me a bit to get used to Greek yogurt but now it is my go to breakfast.  The peach is the best.

Netflix is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.  I can't stop watching GG. I want to be Serena.

I can't get enough. I have found so many great things to cook from this and great projects to make for the house.

9. Flowers

I hope that one day I can always have fresh flowers all over my house.

One of the many perks of being married to a musician is being able to listen to the records before they are finished/released.  I can't wait for everyone to hear Andy's new RAGC record, it is beyond beautiful.

Thanksgiving is up!

I thought it would be a good idea to post pictures of my Thanksgiving decor before the holiday was over! I made a few new things this year and still have a few that I am working on....
Here is what I have so far!

I changed my mantle this year and I LOVE it.  There is so much detail up close and I had fun putting it together.

New wreath from Pottery Barn.

Great quotes- from Swoozies

Wheat bundles are from Publix. Layered peas, pinto beans, and corn kernels.

I am not happy with this table- it is a work in progress...

Made the pumpkin frame from burlap, buttons, and thread.

Tutorial on this runner to come....

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Thank goodness....

Thanksgiving break is just a day and a half away.  I'm not sure who needs it more; me or the 2nd graders.  Right now my vote is ME!

This week we are having Bully Prevention Week and it has created a ton some conversation between the kids.  Today we had a door decorating contest.  Here is our door!

"Life without bullies would be sweet!"
(Wishing I had taken down the fall owl clings from the window....)

I made the cupcakes on my cricut and each student wrote 3 "sweet" words they could use.

Of course I made a special trip to the School Box to get the sprinkles border.

The "sprinkles" are brads that go through the cupcake to hold all the layers of paper together.
I will be using these cupcakes for something else because they took me forever to make.
Why can't I just put up something simple?  I'm not sure which parent I get this trait from?  It can be great and it can cause a real lack of sleep.

Here are some of the other doors at school:

Everyone did such a great job.  I am glad to have that checked off my list!

Here are a few other things going on in 2nd grade:
This is one of my favorite projects my kids do ALL year!
They have to dress up a turkey pattern to disguise it through the holiday.
Some kids are so creative!
The kids loved the angry bird turkey!

 Club Penguin

In reading we read Henry and Mudge and learned about plot.

Grandparents Day is this Friday so we did our bulletin board for them!
We created a quilt out of paper.

The four corners were leftover fabric scraps.

Each child drew their grandparents and their nicknames.

We made owls for our tree this November and they wrote whoooo they were thankful for on each one.

We also created descriptive Thanksgiving menus for our window display.

The goal was to have the students add descriptive adjectives to their family meal.

Fall wreath for the classroom- made out of yarn and I made leaves from felt and embroidery thread.

I can't believe November is almost over.  I am looking forward to a meal with family, seeing my husband, and having some time off work!
